The Mission of the Harlan County Detention Center is to provide for the safety and security of Harlan County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky by maintaining a safe, sanitary, and secure environment where offenders detained by the courts or awaiting judicial procedures can take advantage numerous rehabilitative programs. By following the mandates set down by constitutional law case law, state laws, and department of corrections regulations we work to provide for ethical and humane punishment, deterrence, and rehabilitation of offenders.
